Design with Collective Intelligence

Summary of the week 10 - Design With Collective Intelligence
The session with Ramón Sanguesa and Lucas Peña was for me an introduction to Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. The general scheme would be: Input, algorithms and output. The formula seems very simple but the complexity lies in getting the data, classifying and understanding them. We introduce ourselves to the BigML program. And by groups we begin to conceptualize a project, with Zoe and Alessio we propose to analyze the waste generated in Poblenou. After searching for different public databases of the City Council of Barcelona, Idescat, Open Data Barcelona ... we rethink the project. We contacted Guillem Camprodon and analyzed the data collected by the Smart Citizen Kit sensors in Barcelona during the months of July and August 2018.

Going back to the initial idea, we decided that we wanted to generate a tool that analyzed the needs of the environment based on the environmental data collected by the Smart Citizen Kit sensors and proposed which materials were best used for each location. In this way you could design rooms that would take environmental conditions into account more. For example, if the sensor captures that there are high humidity levels in Pujades street and the noise at night is considerable, a good acoustic and humidity insulation should be used. The tool could also incorporate a function of storing local waste data, to inform stakeholders that they are looking for these resources and look to reuse them.
